Weird dreams

Does anyone on antidepressants have the wildest dreams?

Jean - April 7

Hi Joyce. Yes, I believe medication can cause wierd dreams also sleep walking, talking in ones sleep, like the stories you here about Ambien and it has the least side affect than Lunesta. Medication works on people in different ways. write down your dreams and see if you can come to any subconscious sense of it. It is interesting.

yes, I dream the stupidest things every single night. I have more stress in my sleep than I do in real life. In all my dreams I always can't accomplish something I need to do or cant find or get to where I need to go. I dream stuff from a long time ago and expect people to be there and they are not.... I take 50mg of Elavil every night, but if I dont take it I wake up every hour. I excercise and it dont help at all, tried ambien and lunesta and it made my pain worse in my back... so we dont have much help from any medication. I take vitamins every day as well, Vit E, Vit C, B-complex, multivitamin and 1000mg calcium and manesium, but I dont feel much better from taking it. Hang in there just find something you like doing to keep you going. I am going brown bear hunting on Kodiak island next week and this has been a dream of mine since I was a young boy. Just keep moving and eat less and try not to let stuff bother you as much. I tried zoloft, effexor, paxil, cymbalta, flexeril, ativan, and not one of them boosted my mood, made me sleep better, or helped with my fatigue and pain. I bite my inner cheeks in my sleep or tongue at time and man it hurts, but I cant keep mouth guard in at night, it falls out. Grind my teeth I know as well.

Yes - I take Prozac and have bizarre dreams. It's ironic that what little sleep I do get is filled with exhausting experiences!

There are anti-depressants that I have been on in the past that certainly caused me to dream more actively and vividly. Do you mind me asking what you are taking?

Joyce - April 17

I'm taking Noritryptiline, 2 per day, 10 mg

I take Endep (anti-depressant in Australia) and Aladorm (sleeping tablet) I dont often have wild dreams but just 2 nights ago I had dreams about bugs coming out of my skin all over the place - it didnt seem to hurt but not a dream I want to have again in any big hurry, I dont tend to remember my dreams but when the fibro flare is happening I seem to have them more.

Joyce, My doctor told me when you can remember most of your dreams you are not sleeping deep. Perhaps something for sleep. In the past when I have taken something for sleep, Ambien has worked the best. Also, hormone imbalance can make for restless sleep and crazy dreams. Soak in the tub with Epsom Salt to relax before you go to sleep and take a magnesium supplement at bedtime and see if that helps. Praying for you right now.
