Joint Popping

Crystallinegreen - December 19

I have fibromyalgia and am also having excessive popping in my joints. Does anyone else have this with their fibro?

I seriously doubt the problem you are describing has anything to do with Fibromyalgia (FMS). Make an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. I have osteoarthitis along with FMS - my joints pop, grind and lock up regularly due to the OA. Take care.

Fantod - Thanks for your quick response! I am worried it is another issue as well. I made an appointment with a rheumatologist and thank goodness i only have two more weeks for it. Have you always had the osteoarthritis or did it come on after the fibro? It seems like there are so many conditions that are "linked" with the fibro. It is so overwhelming :(

I have had osteoarthitis since my 20's. My mother has bad knees and spinal stenosis. My knees are pretty well shot now and I am a candidate for partial replacements on both. I'm still too young to have them replaced as they typically don't last more than 10 years. Right now I am operating on the thought that until I have to be dragged into OR on a skateboard like a Fisher Price toy or can no longer double clutch my sports cars the operation/s will just have to wait. I do OK as long as I am off stairs, and don't pick up anything above my weight limit of ten pounds (anything over forces the bones together). I know my limits.

My Fibromyalgia (FMS) started after a disc failed in my lower back a couple of years ago. I also have stenosis (thanks Mom) now. I was the perfect storm scenario for FMS - TMJ, OA, poor sleep since childhood, RLS, and multiple chemical sensitivities (medication is a nightmare). I think it comes from my Dad's side of the family as he has RSL, Raynauds and sleep issues but not FMS. I know it is overwhelming. You just have to do the best you can everyday and be grateful for anything that you can do as opposed to dwelling on the losses in your life. Take care.

A week ago monday, i went shopping and after i got home i could no longer walk. i was in so much pain. when i tried to get into bed it felt like my knee wanted to go out of joint and it hurt. ive never had that happen before.. this same knee also wakes me up in the middle of the night from pounding pain. My hips continously click and pop all the time and they are my worst problem. when i was 12 or 13 (just hitting puberty) i would pop my hip out of joint on purpose cuz i thought it was cool. now i am wondering if i caused this pain and popping in my hip, it also likes to give out if i stand on it too long. the other hip acts up too, that one clicks and pops but if i walk to much on that one it just hurts and i cant move my leg forward to walk.. when they both get going, i am in a world of trouble.

I am a big milk drinker and i am only 40. and im a pc.. lol :)

I too have fibro and osteorthritis, I did have alot of popping in my elbows and now its just alot of pain in one , my right. I can hardly pickup a cup. My knee was like this for months and one day it stopped and the elbow started! I dont know if its from the fibro or the osteo. I have not been back to the Dr in a long time. I just deal with it. Everyone tells me I should have the elbow looked at, but they told me the same of the knee so Im hoping the elbow does the same and just goes away :(

Thank you so much to everyone for your insight. I feel awful that you all have to go through this, but glad that I am not alone as well.
