Is Heat making you sick

I made an appointment with a new family physician this morning. I have been looking around for someone who could treat EVERYTHING wrong with me. This new doc specializes in treating FMS and diabetes, so I HOPE I like him. My first visit will be on 6/17, so I have a couple of weeks before I see him. In the meantime, I plan to stay OUT of the heat if I can. I was just miserable over the weekend. I also got a nasty bug bite on my arm that has swollen up, so maybe whatever bit me caused some of my problem. Who knows? With FMS, it seems like little things that don't bother other people just make my life a living hell.....

Last summer I got a bad spider bite on my arm. It swelled and swelled and then my arm started to hurt and I felt dizzy and almost drunk. I took two extra strength Reactine for the next few days and felt a big difference within a few hours of the first dose.

I also bought myself a large brimmed hat to keep me protected from the sun; it made a HUGE difference in the way the sun affects me.

Welcome Whitehouse,

I am in the same boat as you, i live in columbus, and my primary care dr set me up with a dr kevin hackshaw, but they can't get me in until aug pcp told me there is a serious shortage in the amount of rheumy's. i suppose that is why it takes forever to get in, i only found a few in columbus, one is at osu,and the other two at grant hospital..good luck. Whitehouse43110 glad you have found a new PCP. Sounds as if this one may be the one you've been looking for, especially if he specializes in FMS and diabetes. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

I have a feeling this is going to be the summer of hell. So today, I am so achy, all over, it started yesterday and today I can barely moved, been shoving down everything I can to keep my body from achiness, and it ain't working. It's now 10p.m. and I kid you not, I've got problems going up or down the stairs and I'm achy and stiff. Do you think I can get a few days of nice weather.....

Sounds like we are in the same boat. I am in pain ALL the time. The cold and rain makes it a lot worse. But I can't remember a day when I wasn't in severe pain. My doctor is giving me problems about my pain meds! And I am not happy about it!
The summer is here and the heat is going to make me worse! When does it all end?

Oh my goodness! I thought I was a wimp this weekend and it is so good to get an answer to why I felt so bad this weekend. It was very hot (I'm in Texas too) and I had a charity function that I was co-chairing. So I'm out in the sun by 8am and by 6pm I'm sick as a dog, the world was spinning, I was seeing black spots and I couldn't get a sentence out. It was awful and it really scared me bad. I sure don't want that to ever happen again so I sure understand your problem! Take care and try to stay in the cool air.

WOW!! It is wonderful to know where all my sweat has been coming from! I have always been one of those lucky people who never sweat. I could dance for hours and only my upper lip would sweat. For about the last 3 years I sweat all the time. Im talking about gross dripping off my nose sweat!! People at stores will ask me if I am all right it is so obvious! I also live in Texas--Hill Country--basically like opening the oven door to check if your frozen pizza is ready. I have to have 3 fans blowing on me at night, and that is with the AC on as well! Yes, winter is worse on my bones and joints but compared to the summer I will take Maine, Canada, and Seattle any day! BTW--my doctor told me that flourescent lights are not so great for fibro sufferers, they make covers for the bulbs that you can get at Home Depot for a small amount. I was going to get them put up where I work but I have to quit because as of today I am now walking with a cane! Dare ole fibro numb legs!
