I hurt so bad

Hi! I was just diagnosed as having Fibromyalgia but I don't know if that is really what it is. I have alot of pain in my arms and legs. It is like a shooting pain right into my bone. I can hardly lift my arm to put a half gallon of milk back in the refrigerator. I had a brain injury two years ago. Would that cause Fibromyalgia? I have alot of pain in my jaw too. I am miserable. I can't sleep because the pain is so bad. When I finally do get to sleep the next morning the pain is nothing like it is at night. Is that how anyone here is? I heard you were suppose to be worse in the morning. Please help. Thank you.

Kim, it sounds like FMS but were you diag. by a Rheumatologist? I have pain more at night than in the morning. I think that everyone is different with FMS because everyone's body is different. I know how frustrating it can be but your best bet is to go to a Rheumatologist. They are more open with suggestions and medications to try. I hope that this helps. Take care and God bless!

You just had a head injury not long ago and I think you should discuss this with your Neurologist, he would know best I think and if that doesn't work go to a Rheumatologist just to see if you have Fibro. They say Fibro can be caused by direct trauma and you have had trauma. Take Care.

I have that same issue and I was wondering if it is common because there is no direct proof that you have Fibromyalgia. Its hard to convince yourself that its really it. I was told that I may have it and I'm now in the process of trying to get a medical card and then find a rheumatologist in the area that will take it. I just want to be diagnosed and had everything else ruled out so I don't feel like I am crazy. I know I can't pay for all the test or even the first visit to the dr so I am finally making myself go get help. My muscles sometimes feel like I am being eaten alive from the inside out they ache so bad...
Does anyone else feel this way? What are the best over the counter medications to take to help dull the aches??

By the way, I am much worse at night as well. Especially when I have been active all day or doing something repetitively it all comes on at night. I am ok while I'm moving but as soon as I try to sit and relax I start hurting. Even making it through a 2 hour movie on the couch is difficult some nights.

I hope you find some answers... I hate this illness and I don't even know if I have it!

Cassie: That sounds exactly how it started with me. I could go on and on all day long because I was so afraid of stopping. If I sat down that would be the end of me for that day or days beyond. It's probable this is what you may have. Do see a Rheumatologist.

Kim: With your medical problems you need to talk to your doctor about getting relief for your pain or you will not be able to go forward. In my estimation you need to get rid of the pain so you can concentrate on other parts of the body if they should arise.

I appreciate all the help everyone has given me. I take neurotin 1500mg. for the pain and seizures I have because of the brain injury. I don't know what I would do if I didn't take the neurotin because my pain is unbearable even taking it. I also take wellbutrin for depression due to my whole life changing from the brain injury. I hope and pray that everyone that suffers from this stuff gets some kind of relief from it. Maybe they will soon have a drug that is made just for Fibromyalgia. The sad thing is nobody understands how painful it is unless they have it. They think you're nuts. I wouldn't wish this on anyone though. Do you get fatigued easily from it? I don't know if it is actually the brain injury or if it is the fibro. that makes me so fatigued all the time. Also Cassie to answer your questions, yes, I feel the same as you--like I'm being eaten alive from the inside out. As far as over the counter meds. I don't know if there are any that really helps. Like I said, I take neurotin and even on that I still have horrific pain.

I unashamedly take Lortab 7.5 mg twice sometimes three times a day for pain without the grogginess that goes with some. It also gives me a lift and helps me lead a more normal life. I make no apologies for using pain meds when needed, and also for sleep. If you on't have a doctor who will prescribe pain meds, find another one who will. Some of them lay a guilt trip on you for even making the suggestion, and treat you like a pill popper, and drug abuser.
Find something that works for you. I'm not sure I would rely on Neurotin altogether, or even tust your doctor to know exactly how much pain your in or what you need to do. Remember that they may be caring, but they still don't walk in your shoes.
Learn all you can for yourself, and oh yes, above all.......PRAY!
Blessings to you,
