After 3 years of sleeping problems and fatigue, I finally got the guts to ask my GP to send me to a sleep clinic. She's refering me to one in a neighbouring city that's supposed to be good. I slept from 1:45am last night till 3:30pm today, ate then went back to sleep till 6:30pm, woke up, ate and its 9:00pm and I'm exhausted and could just sleep all night.

Noca - I think going to a sleep clinic is a very good idea. Depending on what they find, you may get some relief from your depression issues.

With regards to your sleep pattern right now - you may be having a flare with FMS. I've been in a slump due to the changing seasons. I went through a two week period where all I wanted to do was sleep. Anytime there is a major swing in the weather that is my usual reaction. I'm doing better now.

By the way, what, if anything, did you figure out about light therapy. I use it during the winter if I get up early enough (lol). It does help with mood and energy. Maybe this is something you should also be asking the sleep clinic about.

Hope you are doing better these days. I think of you often. Enjoy the weekend and happy haunting!

Congrats!! Keep us posted!

By the way, have any of you tried warm Chai Tea before going to bed? I find it helps to sooth me. They have it at Krogers in canisters. A little pricey....but worth it to me.

Good luck!

Oh, you will much better after you get the results from the sleep clinic. I now have a mask, a CPAP, and it is wonderful. It takes a bit to get used to it, but it is all worth it. I just drift off to sleep; even though I still take sleep meds. I am afraid to go without them. The sleep you get with the machine is so much better, than tossing and turning every night. Let us know how it turns out. I would be very surprised if you didn't have good luck with it. Hugs, Susan

I hope you get some useful info Noca. There is a device on the internet called Zeo that tracks a person's sleep cycle. I have considered getting one as I know I would not sleep 'normally' in a sleep clinic because I always sleep poorly if i'm in a strange environment. Will they test you on or off of your medications?

So they did it last night. I was all wired up, about 20 wires in total from head to foot. They tested me on meds. So that I could go to sleep, I took like 4mg of Xanax at once and was out cold :)

I'll get my results in about 4-6 weeks they told me.

Hey Noca - I'm wondering if the results of your sleep study will be affected by the Xanax you took? In other words, would there be different results if you didn't take the medication?

It will be very interesting to find out what they say...hopefully it will be helpful for you to sleep better.

Take Care, Stacey :o)

Stacey - I double checked with the sleep clinic. They know how much I took and said it wasn't a problem and that they wanted me to take my normal sleep aids. It's completely fine.

Thank you everyone for all the support :)
