FIBRO= BODYMIND DISORDER
26 Replies
cee cee - August 7

My fibro was brought on by extreme stress and personal pain. Yes, that is my mind. But this stress has now caused pain that is REAL and difficult to overcome. I try to avoid stress in my life as much as humanly possilbe.

Answer: Excuse me Bud, but you are scaring some of the nice ladies on this forum. I am one of them. You are right that there are some mean posts out here lately but your sexual remarks and threatening messages are not welcome and if you continue with that language we will report you to your ISP via the editor of this site. this forum is for people with fibromyalgia, not for what you are using it for. please no more swearing and please go away if you can't stop yourself. thank-you.

Very silly that some ppl get that angry. Forums here are for all to voice their oppinions. Dr.Sarno is without a doubt onto something. A great many point in his book was like a mirror to myself.
I think its plain ridicoulous that a vast majority of doctors refuse to believe that the mind and body are not directly connected. I am living proof that stress is what causes my fms to flare up. Unfortunately i have not been able to control my stress levels..this is one thing the book does not teach you.

I'm glad this book has helped some of you. I haven't been so lucky, but a lot of the med problems aren't Fibro. Fibro is just one of the results from not paying attention to my physical pain. I'm working on it though. Best of luck to you all. Chris2

I got mine after a fall which caused a cervical spine injury, hence my FMS doctor has diagnosed it as Post - Traumatic Fibromyalgia I think whatever works for someone is great but as well all know there is no one cure all for FMS and we all have our opinions. I hope we all find what works best for each of us.

I forgot to add that stress is a big factor in not only FMS but in all diseases, having a support system such as family and friends also helps.

hey christian, youre right the book wont teach you how to get rid of stress, because you cant. you will always have stress, its how you channel it that helps you get better. some of us deal with it poorly & internalize it (fibro, pain, anxiety) while others find an outlet like boxing, beating pillows or yelling in the car. talking to a counsellor or someone else you can be COMPLETELY honest with also really helps detoxify body & mind. for me anyway :)
