I have some bad news, I had my colonoscopy done today, and they found a very large polyp, one that could not be removed by the scope. So now, I have to have a CT Scan, and the polyp removed surgically. This will happen very soon.

I have had scopes before, but 2 years ago it was fine. You will never know how terrified I am about all this, as I cannot get it out of my mind.

All I ask is some thoughts or prayers for me at this time. It is so scary. My children are about 1 and 1/2 hours away, and 3 hours away. Not exactly close and they are men now with their own lives. Keep me in your thoughts. S.

You are in my thoughts and prayers tonight. Anyone would be scared, it's a normal reaction. But take comfort in knowing that you are on top of your health. Be strong and have faith.

Please keep us updated.

Susan - It sounds like you are very proactive with taking care of your health which can only work in your favor.

I'll be sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. A positive attitude can go a long way for a speedy recovery. Keep your chin up. I'm pulling for you. xo

I know you are really scared. We are all here for you, so please let us know how you are doing - we care! You caught this early, that's good - and most of these things are benign. Please allow your children to be there for you - you deserve the support (after all you raised them!) and I'm sure they will be happy to give it to you. They love you! A couple hours is not far to drive for someone you love!

I think so many of us come down with fibro because we push ourselves so hard, taking care of everyone else -- it's so difficult for us to sit back and let others help us out when we need it! Take good care of yourself. Many are praying for you - and there's power in that!

Sending good energy your way, and hugs.

Hi Canada,

I just wanted to tell you that I know you are scared, anyone would be. I may be wrong, but I believe it takes years for something to turn cancerous and if it's only been 2 years since your last test, I would think that this is most likely a benign polyp.

Also I wanted to tell you that my mother had the same thing happen to her. It was a large flat polyp that couldn't be removed with the scope as well. She did have the surgery and it was non-cancerous. So, even though I know this is scary, it doesn't necessarily mean it's, ya know, what I'm sure is going through your mind right now.

Good luck to you and let us know how you're doing.

hugs to you

Thanks to you all that replied. I will keep these, so I can look back for encouragement.

I hope to talk to the surgeon on Tuesday to him to see what the status is of the polyp. I don't want to wake up after surgery to any surprises. I detest even staying in a hospital overnight let alone how long I will have to be with this. I am scared and feel very alone with this. My husband passed away 8 years ago - 6 months after moving here.

Thanks again.

Hope things go well for you on Tuesday. And also, I'm so sorry about the loss of your husband. I hope your children will be there for you. Wishing you the best with this.
