Worried!

Blonde - October 9

I recently was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and TMJ by a rheumatologist. She took one look at me and heard me and said that you definitely have them. I have been doing research and reading books to learn more about this condition. It does scare me that I may have to give up a career and my full time job. I also am taking college courses online and I have 3 girls and a husband at home. I just keep thinking that I'm only 44 years old and this shouldn't be happening to me. I have had these types of symptoms for many years but not this bad before as it has been lately. Will it be ok as time goes on as long as I learn how to deal with the pain and fatigue?

Blonde, you have come to the right place!! I too am newly diagnosised but there are many here that have had FMS for a lot of years. You will find more communication going on under the General Discussion Forum. Are you on any treatments at this time?

I am newly diagnosed also. I have three boys and am 37 I think that things can be managed under the right care. You need the right medications for you and exercize and maybe natural meds it all depends on you and how you react. I am on Lexapro at night which is an anti anxiety but seems to help fibro patients as a secondary effect. It helps me sleep more soundly plus Celebrex in the morning. I have a pain med when it gets really bad but only take it PRN and at night. You have been living with it this long without a diagnosis I am sure you can keep going for quite a long time with a diagnosis just keep trying different things until something works. Chin up.

Thanks Teresa and Carm. I will move over to the general discussion.
