SLEEP
10 Replies
TERRY - June 7

IS THERE ANYTHING THAN ANYONE KNOWS THAT CAN HELP WITH SLEEP? I HAVE BEEN ON LYRICA 75MG IN THE MORNING AND 75MG AT NIGHT. THE FIRST TIME I TOOOK IT I SLEPT ALL NIGHT AND HAVEN'T DONE THAT IN 20 YEARS OR MORE. IT SEEMS TO HAVE HELPED A LOT WITH CALMING THE NERVES DOWN SO THAT I CAN BEAR THE PAIN. I HAVE OTHER PROBLEMS BUT MOST ARE ALL BONE DUE TO BACK SURGEY AND OR NERVES DUE TO SURGERY AND FIBROMYALIGIA.

MY NUEROGOLIST TOLD ME I SHOULD BE THE FIBROMYALGIA POSTER CHILD BECAUSE I HAVE IT THE WORSE HE HAS EVER SEEN.

WOULD LIKE ANY HELP OR IN-PUT THAT MAY HELP.

THANKS,TERRY FULLER (CHARLESTON SC)

Has your doctor tried you an Ambien? it helped me alot. I have nerve problems, muscle spasms along with fibro, I have major sleep problems also. I am now getting relief with Neurontin, Xanaflex and 2 Klonopin just before bed. I hope this helps.

I started lyrica about 1 month ago...the numbness and tingling are better but I have such severe burning in my feet and thighs. Activity makes this worse. After walking for a while, my feet are numb...almost like I am walking on foam. Every where on my body aches. Have you gained weight on it? Does this sound like fibro to you and is a neuro the right doc or a rheumo. Also, my toes ache so bad, when I step on my feet in the am when I wake up...it is so painful and my hands are swollen in the am. I feel like the doctor thinks I am a hyperchondriac.

Hi Terry, Lyrica is a pain med (used for diabetic nerve pain and an epilepsy drug) you probably slept because it brought such relief that your body was exhausted and caught up with you. I don't think it'll help with further sleep. I take Trazadone and it does help you sleep and get back to sleep if you wake up. You have to adjust to the dosage.

My rheumy gave me a muscle relaxer to help me sleep. It has really helped alot. I take Flexeril, once about 2 hours before I want to go to sleep. I also found that if I have any type of coffee, sugar, etc. after about 5pm that I could not sleep, even w/ the meds.

I have tried numerous meds for sleep over the past 2 years, (that's when I really developed insomnia) before that I had only slight trouble sleeping. Nothing worked, or had horrible side effects. I now take clonipan (similar to xanax) 1 mg. before bed. I'm able to fall asleep with no problem, and get at least 6 hours of straight sleep, sometimes more. Of course I'm still tired when I wake up, but I know that it's part of the fibro. I also started lyrica 5 weeks ago. I'm now up to 225 mgs am, and 225 mgs pm. I had problems with legs, feet, arms, hands and back. Tingling, numbness, and nerve pains with severe twitching and spasms. It has helped a lot, but still not 100%. Hopefully in time it will increase the pain relief. I have gained about 3 lbs, but mostly just feel bloated all the time.
