FMS and Pregnancy

PreggowithFMS - August 10

Looks like it's been awhile since anyone has posted anything about pregnancy and FMS. If anyone has any tips on how to deal with the pain let me know.

Right now I do take pain medicine when I need it however I would rather not. I no longer take the muscle relaxers and drink the occasional glass of wine to relax.

FMS got easier during the first trimester however since I entered the 2nd trimester (and I just entered it a few weeks ago) the pain is getting worse in the upper body along with the fatigue. When I had called my obgyn and told him that my reg dr said that my obgyn needs to prescribe my pain medicine from now on since I was pregnant, he who typically is very understanding shocked me the when he said "well your fms is supposed to be alot better if not disappear during pregnancy". He gave me 1/2 the dose of what I am used to taking and when I called him and told him that I had a high tolerance and at least needed what I have been taken (I tried for 3 days for the lower dose to work) he said he needed to refer me to a specialist because he didn't understand why I was in so much pain. Well you can't convince someone of your pain and now I am starting to wonder if he is a believer in FMS. He sent me to a maternal specialist who I can't see until 2 weeks cause they were booked.

What I don't understand is and what my fear is - is that he's not a beliver and that nothing comes out of the appt. We all know that there is no test to prove FMS - I just feel like it will be a waste of my time and money. I am going to go though - even though it's making me have flashbacks of going from one dr to the next to the next just for someone to tell me what is wrong with me (I am sure almost all of us have gone through that)

Has anyone been in my shoes? I appreciatte any advice.
