ditch the artificial sweeteners!

About three weeks ago I had the worst flare I had ever had. It had lasted about three weeks. I finally ran across a couple of posts about artificial sweeteners. Several months ago my husband was diagnosed as borderline diabetic--so he had cut his sugar and was using sweeteners. He was having great success losing weight--so I decided to join in on his diet. I began dilligently using sweeteners. I lost weight--but started feeling crummy. After reading the posts here, I stopped using the sweeteners completely. The very next day I started to improve! Of course I know that's not a cure all, I still have my regular level of pains--but not anything like what I was experiencing. I really appreciate the information I'm receiving here!

This is a VERY good point. Artificial sweeteners are usually made from chemicals. I don't even use white sugar because of what they use during the process to make it white sends me into a flare.

I switched to organic sugar cane, which looks like brown sugar, not as moist though, and a little less sweet than white sugar. It's delicious and doesn't make me flare up.

I use Stevia because my husband is diabetic. It is plant based and it doesn't spike sugar levels. One packet sweetens a 16-ounce cup of coffee without a problem. And there's no nasty side effects! We get ours at WalMart in the diabetic section.
