My husband doesn't understand !!

Hi,
How can I do to make my husband understand that my pain is real. That even if I look good I don't feel good.

Alba - It is very hard to explain a condition to people as it is hidden or invisible. I don't know if you have read it but ive just read a good book called Living with Fibromyalgia by Christine Craggs-Hinton which was really good and gave some pointers for dealing with sceptical loved ones!!

I heard it explained once that your body is like a car. May look great on the outside, but doesn't mean that the motor runs. See if you can get him to read about symptoms of fibromyalgia, or go with to a Dr. appt to ask questions.

Have found a website that has an "Open Letter To Normals" that I think accurately describes what we are going through.

Alba: An excellent source of information, symptoms, cases, and suggestions on how to help yourself is "Fibromyalgia: Up Close & Personal" by Mark J. Pellegrino, M.D. I have the book and refer to it frequently. Dr. Pellegrino has FM himself, giving him a great understanding of what we experience. As a doctor, he has treated thousands of FM patients which has given him the great insight he shares in his books. It can be purchased on amazon.com. You can ask your husband to read certain sections of it that explainj the exact symptoms that you have. This might help him understand and open up more opportunities for discussing it together.
Good luck!

Alba have him look at this site along with other sites about FMS until recently I did not realize there were so many people whom felt this pain .. there are pamplets out there too ask your doctor to help you.. perhaps let him talk to your doctor about it too. Before I was diagnosed I thought I was crazy so I dont find it hard to believe that someone would question how you are feeling.. take care

Check out helpmythyroid.com and read about iodine deficiencies and how it affects many organs in your body....
