fibromite.u.k. - May 12

Hi, I don't think this is anything to do with fibromyalgia, but I have had a large ulcer on the side of my tongue since January. Despite doing all the usual things, mouthwashes, bonjella and so on, it didn't go away. My doctor gave me some steroid tablets that I had to melt on the ulcer but even they didn't work, so I was referred to a facial specialist.

I saw him at the hospital yesterday and he said I need to have a biopsy taken. I will be having it done in about three weeks and it sounds awful. I will have an injection in my tongue to numb it, then they will remove the ulcer and put some stitches in my tongue. I don't like the sound of it at all, and am very nervous about it. I almost felt like saying I didn't want to go through with it, but my husband says that I must as it is important to do so.

I just felt I wanted to tell you all about this.

Oh, this sounds rough. But I think your husband is right, you need the biopsy. (Ask them for adequate pain medication! Your tongue is sensitive!)

Wishing you all the best - once they biopsy it and find out what it is, they should be able to treat it accordingly and you will feel better. Be good to yourself and let your husband support you through this. Good luck with it.

I am thinking of you and you are in my prayers...it is better to be safe with this. I have been through biopsys...they are scarey, but important....Hope all goes well.
