Where can I find a doctor?

I think I have fibromyalgia. My internist can't diagnose what I have. How can I find a doctor in lower Westchester County, NY, or NYC who knows how to treat fibromyalgia?

Find a rheumatologist

There are many ways go to a support group in your area, look on the internet http://www.superpages.com/ look for a rheumetolgist, neurologist or a psychiatrist (I have a really great one) check out and see if they have a website that lists what conditions they treat.

I have found out that some doctors dont believe in Fibro. While I had cancer Moffit cancer center sent me to pain managment and they decided to run tons of test just to prove I didnt have fibro. The end result was I had Fibro.

As in any field, there are good doctors and bad doctors. I would not write off the field of rheumatology because of a bad apple or two. I think they are the ones most trained to identify this problem. My general practitioner treated me like a hypochondriac and sent me to an orthopedic center where i was x-rayed and given PT to no end. Finally it was the orthopedic doc who gave up on me and suggested the rheumatologist. My first one diagnosed me but did nothing for me. The one I see now, I like very much. I see a nurse practioner every other visit because I am not considered a seriously ill patient, and at first I took offense, but I like the nurse so much, I am ok with it now.
