What OTC med is best?

Just severe muscular pain mostly in legs. I'll go to my doctor next week but he's not a fibro believer. In the meantime, what over-the-counter med do you think is best. Also, I had a rheumatologist 8 years ago that gave me a sleep med that he said would induce a deeper sleep stage. I noticed the pain improved. I never felt sleepy the next day. I forgot the name. Anyone have a guess? Thanks to all you supportive people.

Hello - Over the counter meds do not work for FMS. There are only certain classes of meds that do and they must be prescribed. If you get deep restorative sleep than your overall symptoms generally tend to lessen. That is why Drs. that treat FMS routinely prescribe amitriptyline among other drugs to help with sleep issues. You should find another primary care physician and a rheumotologist who have some care and concern for someone with FMS. There is a better way to live your life with FMS. Best of luck to you.

Thanks so much to Fantod. I believe amitriptyline was the med I took (when I had a more knowledgeable FMS doc) and it did help. I will be following your advice.

I am so glad I was able to help you. FMS is so difficult to deal with for most of us. I hope you are able to find some doctors who are willing to partner with you and make life better.
