What eases neck/back/shoulder pain?

Hi, I'm new here and find it very helpful. I haven't been officially diagnosed with fibro yet, although for 12 years I've been to at least six doctors begging for help, and my symptoms and pain continue to worsen. I usually go through periods of "remission" but for the last 2 years I've been in a constant state of pain. I don't take anything stronger than advil or aleve for it, with little or no relief. My problem is that almost 3 months ago I had a day of strenuous activity, and that night while typing some emails my trapezius muscles and upper back area just froze up. The pain is so bad I can hardly sit or lay down. Nothing I've tried eases the pain. Not ice, heat, rubs, patches, etc. I've tried massage and stretching with a physical therapist. Still nothing. I'm getting desperate here; I'm a pharmacy tech in a busy pharmacy and cannot afford to be in pain all day. I also work with my husband on Saturday. Between long hours and lack of quality sleep I'm going nuts. My doctor now is trying to help, but so far my hmo wants to do the usual things, ie x-rays, etc. I'm going to ask her for a referral to see a rheumatologist, but how do I make sure I ask the right questions and make the most of my visit? Thanks for any advice
