weight and fibro?

Is there any kind of research or indication that weight gain affects fibromyalgia symptoms?

Not that I am aware of but I am sure extra weight will cause more joint pain and other additional health issues over time. Take care.

I have to agree with Fantod in that weight would have an impact on our joints. Also since many of us suffer with Ibs and Gerd these conditions can also be aggravated by a significant weight gain.
Depression another symptom can also be negatively impacted by a significant gain in weight.
I know that there has been research on how Fms causes weight gain, medications, deficiencies in certain hormones, lack of sleep, and decreased activity due to pain. I'm sure there must be some info/research on how weight gain impacts us as well. Since weight has such a significant impact on our health with or without Fms.
Take care, Patty :)

I've gained and lost twenty pounds over the years. When I lost the weight I thought I would have more energy but it had no effect. I would imagine however that a significant weight gain could cause trouble simply by causing trouble to our overall health.

I wish FMS caused me weight gain... I struggle to maintain my 21 BMI. I take Zyprexa for the sole reason of appetite stimulation.
