I am currently taking savella and have also just started lyrica. The savella helps with some things but some of my other symptoms are getting worse.

Just curious what vitamins/supplements or natural products you might take and what symptoms they help with. I'm sure most of you have posted this info on more than one occasion, but I'm new here and thought it would help to see what everyone takes for which symptoms.

I am working on changing my diet after reading what some people have eliminated and how much it has helped, but I also think maybe adding some vitamins/supplements will help me.

I take Vitamin D - many FM sufferers have a Vitamin D deficiency, even if the diagnostic tests don't show one, even a slight one that wouldn't be flagged on the tests can cause us problems.
Calcium & Magnesium (this is to help with muscle pain and reduce the amount of lactic acid)
Coenzyme 10 for antioxidant, immune, and muscular support.
Whey protein works much the same way as Coenzyme 10.

I commend you for taking charge of your diet, it really will help mitigate some of your symptoms and give you a bit more energy.

I use 1mg of Melatonin in addition to Amitriptyline for sleep. Malic Acid is good for cramping and muscle twitching. Also, B12 with folic acid (necessary to help it absorb) in a sublingual tablet. IF you decide to try any of these things, be sure you understand how to take them and any risks assoiciated with them. Take care.

I have found that korean ginseng has helped with the fatigue. calcium, magneseium, vit-d, chrondrotin and gluscomine, gas defense, probiotics...I have found that the cymbalta has helped the most.

Hello dkarssen79, vitamins are good for you, but you have to watch what you take, here is sample of vitamins that could pick and choose to help with your symptoms. Just remember, that once you forget to take your vitamins, something can go amiss with your regime. Here goes, hope it helps.

For some syptom relief

For sleep, use Melatonin from 1 to 3mg one hour prior to bed time. It's a hormone, that regulates sleep/wake cycles and improves sleep quality.

You can add 5-HTP, an amino acid, which boots production of serotonin and melatonin, promoting relaxation and improve sleep, take 50 to 100 mg before bed.

Also L-theanine, an amino acid, reduces tress, promotes relaxation, take between 50 to 100 mg before bed.

Bones hurt, try calcium and magnesium, those essential minerals for healthy bones, take b etween 1200 calcium and 320 mg of magnesium daily more if there is osteoporosis, also take with a good multi-vitamin.

Again for pain try Joint Q or Glucosamine Chondroitin sulfate 500/400 mg up to twice a day, I use it along with everything, I wrote above and it helps to control my flares and my pain, so much so that I don't feel my pain, most days, until of course when I forget my natural drugs.

For fibro fog and anxiety, use Ginkgo biloba it's an antioxidant that helps improve memory and cognitive function by increasing blood flow to the brain, take 40 mg three times daily.

For nervouness and irritablity and any symptoms of menopause such as night sweats, insomnia, you can use Black cohosh take 40 mg twice daily.

Again to regulate your hormones balance try using Chastevery very good if you happen to be in peri-menopause take from 200 to 400 mg daily.

Also for libido, you can use L-arginine, Panax ginseng, tribulus terrestris and ginkdo bilobal, try looking for a combination formula.

I have done all these vitamins at one point or another, and I recommend a good multivitamin twice a day, start with one in the morning and another at noon. It takes awhile before your body responds to the vitamins.

One think I always tell people, make sure you drink at least one cup of green tea after your supper to take away all those toxins you have in your body.
