I just received a copy of my labs. My vitamin B6 is incredibly elevated. All of my other vitamins are normal. Deficiency in the B vitamins leads to symptoms that mimic fibromyalgia but elevated levels of the B vitemins causes the same symptoms. It takes 6 months to reduce the levels of B vitamins. I hope that is the only problem.

Vitamin B6 is usually safe, at intakes up to 200 mg per day in adults. However, vitamin B6 can cause neurological disorders, such as loss of sensation in legs and imbalance, when taken in high doses (200 mg or more per day) over a long period of time. Vitamin B6 toxicity can damage sensory nerves, leading to numbness in the hands and feet as well as difficulty walking. Symptoms of a pyridoxine overdose may include poor coordination, staggering, numbness, decreased sensation to touch, temperature, and vibration,; and tiredness for up to six months.

Effects include tachypnea and sensory neuropathies, such as burning pains, paresthesias, ataxia, clumsiness, paralysis, and perioral numbness.

Findings range from normal CNS function to progressive sensory ataxias, profound impairment of position and vibration sense, and diminished tendon reflexes.

Vitamin B6 can help with weight loss through a stimulating effect on the thyroid, which - by boosting the

right cardiac output - reduces water retention, hence the diuretic attributes. In those with a disposition

for hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), higher doses of Vitamin B6 and higher doses of Vitamin C are not
advisable since they can trigger erratic blood sugar changes and depressive mood swings.

Higher doses of Vitamin B6 will also result in a high magnesium / low calcium ratio, so if not matched

to a patient's requirements (which can happen when Vitamin B6 + Vitamin B12 injections are regularly

given at weight loss clinics), a severe calcium deficiency develops. This by itself - or when aggravated
by an overstimulated thyroid from the regular Vitamin B6 / B12 shots - can result in insomnia, anxieties,

mood swings, chest pains, depression, joint pains, muscle cramps, or other symptoms.

In someone suffering from hypothyroidism + low sodium, Vitamin B6 supplementation on a long-term

basis has a tendency to eventually lower thyroid functions even more, although a brief boost will still

take place every time Vitamin B6 is injected or taken orally. In addition, Vitamin B6 will only affect T4

(thyroxine) levels, but no conversion to T3 (triiodothyronine) takes place - causing a T3 / T4 thyroid ratio

conflict, so rather than trying to boost thyroid functions with Vit B6 injections for weight loss purposes,

iodine, selenium and tyrosine status should be checked and corrected instead. .............................

Ginger root tea contains vitamin b6. Could that be elevating your levels?

No, the ginger root is not elevating vitamin B6, I had all of the classic symptoms of fibromyalgia before I took the tea. I was taking B complex before I started with the symptoms. When my symptoms started I stopped taking vitamins for two months. During those two months my symptoms got worse. So I began to do research on fibromyalgia and I found that B complex helped so I began to take it again. Two months were not enough to decrease the levels of vitamin B6. The ginger root masks the symptoms caused by the B6/ and or fibromyalgia.

The amount of vitamin B6 in one tea of ginger is 1000 times less than the amount in B complex. The culprit my elevated B6 is the B complex. I still highly recommend ginger root and I also recommend everyone to check their vitamin levels before supplementing. What if fibromylagia was really caused by elevated vitamins?

My total dosage of Vitamin B6 per day from vitamins and Ginger tea was only 52.05mg. The ginger root tea only contributes 0.05mg per day.
