Visiting the Doctor

When you go to the doctor for the first time to inquire about the posibility of having fibromyalgia. What test should you ask for, are there any to insist on.
How will I know I'm getting the brush off?
Help direct me, I have no idea where to go or what to do, what to ask.

First, see a rheumatologist and they will know what tests to run. They should test for thyroid function and should also run tests to eliminate other illnesses with similar symptoms including rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.

yes, just as jj1 said, after they rule out everything else, they will do a tender-point exam where they touch you lightly in certain places and if you have it, these places will be very tender, let me know how it goes, good luck
