Sarilyn - December 5

I have found a "wonderful" new symptom - vertigo. I have woken up several times with severe vertigo, even while I am still lying down. Sometimes while I am standing I feel like things move "sideways". I don't know how else to describe this sensation, but it's like I blacked out for just a second or two while standing. It's very disconcerting. I don't feel dizzy when this happens at all, but I have noticed this only happens while I am flaring. The vertigo however was a precursor to the current flare that kicked in big time today.

Does anyone else have this problem, or have any clues as to when a flare is coming?

(Nods) Those blackout moments can be kind of scary. I usually make sure to grab onto something until it passes so I don't fall.
How quickly do you stand up from a sitting or lying down position? I've found that they can sometimes be prevented by taking a few extra seconds (try ten or so) and going a little slower.
It also helps to sit a bit before standing up from a lying down position. Also, when lying down for a bit, it can help to be flat and prop the feet on a few pillows.
Flares for me usually occur when rain or snow is on the way, which makes me more accurate than the weather station. :)
Best of luck!
