sleeping too much

Does anyone have nights when they sleep 11, 12 or even 13 hours? Usually this happens after an extremely stressful day or experience. I woke up this morning after sleeping just shy of 12 hours, and half an hour later, I'm still yawning and haven't gotten anything accomplished.

Hi HRH - I just wanted to tell you that I sleep alot too. During the school year, I usually sleep between 8-10 hours a night and during the summer, I've been sleeping 10-12 hours a night.

If I don't get at least 8-10 hours, I feel so bad the next day....completely brain dead and can't even focus my eyes.

I take alot of meds to go to sleep, but I know that I absolutely have to get my sleep otherwise I just can't function the next day.

I also have a hard time waking up in the morning and getting up and going. I've noticed this summer it takes me a couple of hours to fully wake up. And during the school year, I will get up at least an hour before I wake my girls up. I get up before them so I can wake up and be ready to deal with them each morning!

anyways....Just thought I'd let you know that you aren't alone with this. I've always figured my body must need the rest so I don't fight it. I've just learned to work my schedule around sleeping! Not to mention, all those people who can't sleep....I guess we should be thankful that we can! Take Care, Stacey :o)

hi HRH,
I have the same problem. i am always tired but when it comes to sleep time it's not happening unless i take some sleeping tabs. problem for me is althought they knock me out and i definatley have a better quality of sleep- i could sleep about 12 hours straight and cant get myself together to getting out of bed. ive been off work all summer but return to teaching next week so im gonna have try and suck it up. ;-/
a few montha ago before insomnia set in i was the opposite i would get up for my part time job and when i got home i would go straight to bed i was asleep more than awake. for me it was escapism as i was severely stressed and suffer depression.
if i have a particularily bad or strenuous day i definitley notice a big difference.
i hope you get yourself sorted.

Oh yes! 9 to 12 hours is my usual. One flare-up got so bad I went to the doc and he gave me a shot of a pain med. Well, due to my sensitivity to meds...I ended up sleeping for 2 full days and woke up so dehydrated I had to go in to get pumped full of fluids. Good times.

Well, I certainly jinxed myself when I posted this. Two nights ago I was awake at 2:30 and so far today have been up since 3:30. I didn't even nap yesterday, so I was certain I would sleep through the night last night. I am feeling nostalgic for the 12-hour nights!

My sleeping patterns seem to change. I go through bouts of insomnia. Very bad like most people on this forum. Up at crazy times in the morning and just laying in bed for hours trying to catch some zzs.

Other times, I am so tired that when I get home from work, I just lay around and am sleep by 10 and even getting the 8 hours of sleep isn't enough for me!

Is it common to go back and forth with your sleeping patterns? I can't imagine it is good for us Fibro sufferers either. Seems to cause more stress and flare ups...

Hi JC! How are you doing? I hope you are feeling better now. I haven't talked to you in a while, but I've been thinking about you! sleeping goes back and forth too. Most of the time, as long as I have my meds, I sleep pretty good. But the last 3 nights have been absolutely horrible! Can't fall asleep, and then once I do, I'm waking up every 2 hours all night long. Usually one night of this will make me brain dead...3 nights...I think it's pure adrenaline that's keeping me awake at this point!

Oh well....*Hopefully* tonight I will get some sleep! Take Care Everyone, Stacey :o)

Hello Stacey! I have been going through a really rough period. My brother has MS and has had an episode where he can't use his left side. (arms or legs) so I have been very distant. I have been depressed, lacking sleep, emotional and in TONS of pain :(

I did want to get in touch with you outside of the forum.
jennifer.chaffee and it is a yahoo account. Feel free to email me when you get a moment.

Yeah, my sleeping patterns haven't been too good the past few weeks either...

It is a cycle that continues to go around and around...
