Skin problem, skin cancers & FMS
3 Replies

I have had FMS for about 25 years with the list of symptoms growing each year. The older I get, the more symptoms I develop. Over the past 5 years or so I have developed a lot of skin problems ranging for just plain itching to different types of skin cancers and pre-cancers on my arms, legs and face. My main curiosity is how many, if any, of you out there have had skin cancer or pre-cancers on your extremities? I get more symptoms on my left side and I've had more cancers on my left side extremities also. I feel this would be worth looking into medically and thanks for your help and answers.

I have had fibro for many years and in the last five years have undergone many biopsies and removalsof skin cancers and lesions...some meds given to provide relief for fibro discomfort can cause sensitivity to sun...maybe a connection - no proof but review your meds for sun sensitivity.

I don't go in the sun. When I am outside, I always stay in the shade but I prefer being inside with the AC. Thanks for your answer. Anyone else?

amitriptyline makes you more susceptible to sunburn. I live in Florida and must really lather on the sunscreen (which anyone should do regardless of the drugs they are on, but I try to be more diligent and try to reapply frequently)
