Saw a naturopathic doctor today

Noca - April 2

Today at the physiotherapy I had an appointment with a naturopathic doctor for about 30 minutes. I figure might as well try anything to treat my illnesses. Since I really doubt his ability to treat any pain caused by physical ailments, I just focused on my mental health. Hope its still relevant to this forum...

I gave my medical background in a record 30 minutes and answered all his questions except for "can you list all the medications you have ever been on before?" lol. He also wants me to keep a log of everything I eat. Since I have a very low appetite sustained only by Zyprexa, I'm probably missing out on most needed minerals and vitamins.

He told me that a lot of my meds could deplete nutrients in my body but was intrigued by the fact that chronic opioid use depletes testostrone levels. He suggested I actually go ahead and get my hormone supplement shot, as well as suggested very 2 grams of Omega 3 fatty acids, and 2-3 grams of Niacinamide.

Since he is not covered under government insurance, this is the first time in my life that I've ever actually paid for a doctor. I'm gonna try to get my school's insurance to pick up the tab hopefully.

Noca - I'm really glad that you followed through and saw the naturopathic doctor. I think that the recommendations they made are very good. Nutrition is closely tied to depression. If you can do a better job of eating and getting quality protein your depression issues may improve. Make sure you get the supplements and take them. Good luck and keep us posted. Happy Easter!
