Required Sleep

Ok, so I was thinkg about this the other day. How many hours of sleep do you require? The magic number for me seems to be 9 hours. My body always wakes me up after 9 hours whether I go to bed early or not and whether I'm on a consistent schedule or not. I wish I could survive on less so I could get more done but that doesn't seem to be in my cards. Just wondering if that's similar for other fibros.

I need ten hours and try to get that consistently. As you know, FMS, causes lack of quality sleep so the number of hours is not alway relevant. I can't work due to the severity of my health issues. I am often forced to nap in the afternoon to try and make up a deficit. But, in that instance, I make sure not to sleep more than an hour. I think it is more important to get some sleep at night or you run the risk of throwing your whole schedule off entirely. Good question; I'll be interested to see what others have to say.

Yes, I have always needed more sleep than other people, we do not produce serotonin when we do sleep which is a double whammy. I have had to go to part time instead of full time work and now that is even getting difficult. The old saying "sick of being sick & tired" could have been started by a fibro patient. Every day is a challenge and we can just do the best we can. Best of luck to you.
