Protein Diet?

Hi everyone. I was watching a daytime talk show last week and the psychic Sylvia Browne was on as the guest. One lady in the audience stood up asking for help. She said she had been in terrible pain for a few years and the doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. Sylvia said right away "you have fibromyalgia". She says that she has been telling people for years that what fibromyalgia patients really need is a high protein diet. I don't know if I put much stock in the whole psychic thing, but I seem to remember hearing this somewhere else before. I wonder if it makes any difference. Has anyone else heard of this or tried it with any results? Thanks for reading.

I don't know if anyone REALLY knows the "right" diet for fibro. I think ,because the symptoms are so varied with FMS, that what works for one may not work for another. The diet section of this site has many different diets people have tried, Some SWEAR by them! My sister is an esthetician. She is kind of into the NATURAL approach to healing. She was reading up on FMS. Her books say that people with fibro should avoid night "shade plants". I don't know all of them but one of them is TABACCO! I smoke & I know several of you do too!! Makes me wonder???

For what it's worth, not a smoker. I am sure if there was a link between smoking and FMS, it would have been discovered by now. I have not heard about a protein diet (does that mean high protein or an atkins-like diet?) but I have heard that too many carbs are bad and especially the highly processed wheat products. I love my carbs, but trying to eat more whole grains and fresh fruit.
