hi i am from south central nebraska, i was wondering if anyone would know of a pain management center in nebraska?? my doc's are really starting to look down on the amount of pain meds i have to take...i am NOT a "pill popper" i just simply need them to get through the day, so i thought maybe if i could get to a pain management clinic that would help me...
thank you

There are two simple things that you can do. Google the name of your city or the state and "pain specialist" and see what comes up. Or, call the nearest hospital and ask their physician referral service for a reference. Take care.

I just got my pain clinic by getting a referal from my GP. Mind you I had to wait 9 months to get into the pain clinic.

Just like every other medical practice, pain clinics can vary with regards to treating patients. My pain management specialist has a variety of treatments available including injections, drug pumps and narcotics if he feels that they are necessary. He monitors his patients very closely. Refills are not given over the phone if you miss an appointment unless it is a verifiable emergency like hospitalization. I think it is especially important to have a collaborative relationship when seeing a pain specialist. If you keep hopping from one to another you run the risk of being labeled as a "drug seeker." Not all doctors are created equal and some are more commited to good patient care than others. Take care.
