Does fibromyalgia cause sever pain and stiffness after sitting for say 30 minutes or more? .ie. watching a movie or dining out?

Yes, being in one position for long periods of time can cause stiffness that is why they tell you to keep moving even though you hurt.

Yes- I can hardlt sit for any times o car journeys are bad...as is the cinema or anywhere. A straight back chair helps me or one of those with a foot rest. I suspect it is FMS but none has actually said it was part of that syndrome although I do have FMS

I am extremely stiff after sitting only a short time. It is at its worst when I first get up in the morning and on long car trips. On car trips, I try to make a conscious effort to rotate my feet at the ankles and do a little stretching, even if I am driving. I also make a point of stopping after no more than 2 hours.

Hi diane: Also if you do stretching in between sitting can help but will not stop it.
