Not have been diagnosed

Hello, I have not been formally diagnosed by a doctor, but my doc has suggested that maybe i could have fm. She has checked me for rheumatoid arthritis and that came back negative. I usually don't make too much of my symptoms and try to ignore them, but some of what I've been feeling are: tenderspots, bloating, not sleeping, tiredness. I recently went in for a massage and I was in so much pain each time she tried to massage my legs and arms. Are these common with FM? Any suggestions?

Hello PJones,
First welcome to the website. This site is a great way to find information and gain support from other people living with FM. I have been diagnosed and my symptoms were as follows: Tiredness, Insomnia, Bloating, IBS, Muscle Spasms (Shoulder, Bladder, & Lower Back), Stiffness, Headaches, Pain in all known tenderpoints, and Tendonitis. Also, my grandmother has the illness as well.

I am taking medication now (Nortriptyline-FM, Skelaxin and Flexeril-Muscle Spasms), but I am still not sleeping, have some pain, and muscle spasms.

Also, I am learning what foods I cannot eat b/c they trigger the pain. I can't eat tomatoes, shellfish, and chocolate. Other foods like sugar and coffee just triggers the IBS.

I hope this helps you. Let me know what happens.
