Vinniek - April 24

Hello. I am new here. Recently I have been having alot of unexplained pain, and while waiting for all the test to come back and waiting for more tests to be ordered and nothing coming back and pain meds to mask something I don't know whats causing it. Its frustrating not knowing whats going on and still having pain all the time. I have always had back pain, but when I was 14 I went to have it checked, and at that time my dr pretty much told me it was because I was over weight, so for years, I thought that all this pain i was having everywhere was because I was over weight. Anyways, so it started off with me having abdomonal pain in my right side along with my normal back pain, so I went to the ER one night because of the pain. They thought it was my appendix, and it turned out to be nothing. I went back to work and then ended up back at the hospital because I was having sever headaches, with a horrible pain in the back of my neck that is there often. Along with the pain in my abdomon/pelvic region and lower back pain. They thought it could be cysts on my ovaries, did two ultrasounds, and a bunch of blood nothing came back. 3 weeks goes by I go see my family dr. She says test come back with nothing, and orders a CAT scan and x-rays of my lower back. I am still in alot of pain, totally exhaused no matter how much sleep I get. Some mornings I wake up and I don't fell too bad, then other mornings, it feels like I have been hit by a transport truck, and feel 65 years old when I am only 25. So I went for the tests that she ordered, and went back to the dr yesterday to find out if the cat scan and x-rays showed anything. And they didn't but suprise I am still in alot of pain, now I am getting burning sensations in my back, and in my jaw. My face feels like it is on fire sometimes, with muscle pain. I am always tired can sleep 12 hours and get up only because I see that its 12pm and I have two little girls. (my husband is currently laid off, so he gets up with them). so my family dr ordered more x-rays but of my entire back, hips shoulders and neck, and a bunch more blood test and told me to see my gyno also to make sure that everything was ok on that end, and I had a baby a year ago, and had c-section and tubes tied. During this 7 weeks that I have been in complete pain, I have been doing alot of research on how I was feeling and that is how I found this sight. When I found the site and started reading the symptoms and everything it opened up my eyes to alot of pains that I have just dismissed as "normal" and it made alot of sense to me as when I was reading it it was like they were talking about me. So when I went to my GYNO today, he told me that everything was fine on that end, and he asked me how I was feeling. so I told him all the symptoms that I was having with the fatigue, and pain, and weakness in my arms, pain in my ears that feels like a ear ache but goes away in a day or so. burning sore jaw. My hips aways hurt, elbows back neck shoulders. The first thing that came out of his mouth was that he thinks I have Fibromyalgia, and told me that he wanted me to talk to my family dr about it.

Does this sound like FMS? I just want to know what is going on. I have two beautiful lil girls and its hard when you wake up in pain everymorning to get out and enjoy time with them. I find that my moods have changed, and I get overwhelmed easily. I do have alot of stress in my life right now. Not really sure if I would say depressed, but I am kind of numb right now.

Any insight would be wonderful!

Hello - It sounds like you may have fibromyalgia (FMS). You are very fortunate that your GYN mentioned it. There plenty of doctors out there that still don't acknowledge FMS. You need to see a rheumotologist to be sure that you do have fibromyalgia. To find a fibro-friendly rheumy in your area, go to the National Fibromyalgia Association website and ask them for a referral in your area. Take care.

Hello Vinniek

I see you have lived with this pain for some time without knowing its name, and you may feel a bit lost and confused. You are experiencing many symptoms for which you don't have an explanation, and for which you have not found relief. As you peruse this site, it may open you to the world of FMily. FMily is a name we sometimes use, to incorporate all of us who suffer from Fibro.

I would look for a fibro doctor and make an appointment asap. The first thing is, tell your doctor that you have been through batteries of tests and that you don't want these tests repeated, either bring copies or have your doctor's office send them copies. It will eleminate time and come to a conclusion of your condition. If you could before going to the doctor have your symptoms written and how you feel about it, and maybe have a history of when it all started to now. It's easier for a fibro friend doctor to chart your symptoms, and probably get you into some kind of therapy to help you.

Take care and write to us and let us know how you are feeling, and if you have any questions, there is always someone that will be able to answer your questions.

Hi Vinniek. I recognised so many of your smptoms and it certainly seems like fibro. Just wanted to wish you well and hope you have a productive meeting with your doc. Stay strong and good luck.x

I empathize with your situation Vinniek. And I agree, it sounds very similar to Fibromyalgia/CFS/CFIDS! You are very blessed to have had doctors who were willing to run all those tests and rule things out. There are some doctors who will say you are just "stressed out" and do nothing. But having the good doctors you do, you should get a diagnosis in no time. Sometimes (as in my case and perhaps yours) trauma or even childbirth can set off other symptoms or Fibro in general. It's such a challenge especially being a parent and not knowing from one day to the next how you will physically, mentally or emotionally get things done. It sounds like your dealing with a normal response to not being well as well as the effects of Fibro on your hormones- I have it also- it's one of the most debilitating for me. It's like a tug-of-war between the actual symptoms of anxiety and depression and then actually just responding to being unwell. I understand where you are coming from. My symptoms accumulated over time and accelerated just after my son was born. I spent a good 5 years(my mid-20's) feeling sick, losing jobs, losing friends- losing my mind- before I found Christ, my husband and a doctor who took me seriously. It's a relief when you find out but it will certainly change everything- just remember that. But leaning on God will help you through it all.
Hang in there and continue to reach out- we all are. It's a comfort that I am learning to lean on.
Hope this helps!

Thank you everyone for the support. Its been hard, and it does seem like I have been having symptoms for a while and just never really thought anything of it. The last couple weeks have been really bad for pain. I am really hoping that my family dr is as accepting to this as my gyno was. I don't know what to do if she doesn't agree with him.

I guess I will have to wait and see my next drs appointment with my family dr is on may 11. So until then I will just take it day by day.

thank you again everyone for your thoughts
