Hi everyone - I'm new here. I'm a 49-year-old single mother who's been having weird symptoms for a few years now. I have widespread pain, but my left leg and shoulder hurt worse than the right. I have sleep problems and bladder problems. MRI's and x-rays of my brain and lower back show no problems and bloodwork shows no evidence of autoimmune problems. My family doctor diagnosed me with fibromyalgia a few years ago because he couldn't come up with anything else.

Almost 2 years ago, I had a vaginal hysterectomy with repairs to my bladder and rectum (I had severe prolapse). I've had a hard time getting over the surgery, and still have bladder and pelvic pain. I've been to a urologist and a bladder scope under general anesthesia showed mild inflammation. He's suspected either interstistial cystitis or nerve damage. A pain doctor has me taking Cymbalta and Nortryptilene anti-depressants as well as Lyrica (for nerve pain). These medicines help awhile and then they stop helping - same with chiropractic and massage therapy.

Does this indeed sound like fibromyalgia? Should I see a rheumatologist?

Thanks for any insight you may have.

Betty

I might also add that I have numbness and tingling in my hands and feet, and that my symptoms were brought on by a virus. I'm sure several can relate. Does anyone else have bladder problems or has anyone else had surgery with fibro?

I think you should see a rheumatologist. Good luck.
