I have not be diagnosed yet but my gyne suggest it so I have a appt with a rheumy dr in 2 weeks. My question is do any of you have problems with your muscles in your neck and throat? My throat aches and the top of my mouth the roof and by the uvula. It constantly feels like if I have something in my throat.I have not choked on anything even though sometimes I feel as if I am going to. Some days are worst then others. I do have tmj which I developed in the last year when all my problems started. I have seen 9 drs. had many medical test that all come out normal. The only test I have had with a positive result was it showed at a high level was for a past infection for epstein barr. I have pain all over and my worst is the muscles in my neck and mouth. If there is anyone out there with a similar problem please tell me how you deal with it. One more thing I was on lexapro which seemed to help with the pain, went off of it because of weight gain and have started taking wellbutrin which hasn't kicked in for me yet. When I went off the lexapro is when alot of my symptoms came back. Sorry for the long post.

It is not uncommon for tension in neck to translate to your throat. It is also not uncommon for people with Fibromyalgia (FM) to have issues with swallowing.

However, you should always get new or worsening symptoms checked by a doctor to ensure there isn't something else going on that needs treatment. It could be something as simple as an infection that can be readily treated with antibiotics. But, your best bet really is to talk to your doctor and put your mind at ease.

If it turns out to be caused by your muscles, I would recommend a good heating pad and some massage therapy to loosen them it. Worked for me. :)
