What kind of pain meds is everyone taking and how much? I seem to be running out of options that work because my body gets "used to them" very quickly. I dont want to be in outer space but I would like to be able to get out of bed.

Hi Carrie Lee, After trying everything from Soma to Vicoden and all in between I finally realized that Darvocet was the only one that left me functional but still gave some pain relief. I usually start with a half a tab and if I need more in an hour I will take it. I cannot be a space cadet, I have a daughter that is a juvenile diabetic so I must be able to function. As long as I can take the edge off my pain I seem to do ok. Oh I also take neurontin and antidepressants which are often prescribed for fibro. Take care.

I take lexapro at night. I just started Ultram which is a nonaddictive pain med and I seem to be able to function on it well. I too do not want to feel drugged. I have 3 boys to look after. I also use a lidoderm patch when areas get bad. Good luck.

I take two kinds of narcotic pain relievers & OTC naprosen. Your problem is not unique, many people build up a tolerance to meds that they have been on for a while. Sometimes you can try another narcotic & it will work just fine, ei. switch Tylenol#3s for Darvocet,Vicodin for oxycodone, or morphine for demerol. Take smaller doses more often. When I started taking vicodin the dose would knock me out & or make me feel sick! I also would be in pain again before time for my next dose! I started cuting the pills in half & taking them every two to three hours. That works for me! You might give that a try. hope this helps!
