Muscle Twitching/Vein Pulsating
1 Replies
ccc - March 18

Does anyone know the difference between the two? The past few days i have noticed on my leg which seems to be like a vein pulsating (actually visible). Is this a nerve or a muscle? It doesnt hurt but it is happening alot and i am getting worried.

If it's a vein near the surface of the skin, it will look like a bluish tube. Blood pulses through the veins, so it is normal to feel a slight pulse if you put your finger on a prominent vein - just like you can feel a pulse on the vein at your wrist. You don't say if you have varicose veins - if so, then you might be able to see these veins.

You wouldn't be able to see a nerve by just looking at your skin - and a nerve would probably cause definite pain!

If it's a muscle twitching, you would "feel" it, not necessarily pain, but you would feel it contracting. A lot of fibro people get muscles that twitch.
