Magnesium

Pikespeak - June 2

Hi everyone! Today I had a CT scan to see if I have kidney stones (frequent UTIs). I had to drink this prep called Citroma. Magnesium and citric acid are the main ingredients. Upon waking this morning, I realized that the pain in my glutes did not wake me (for once)! Do others here take magnesium for pain? How much do you take? I know Dr. Oz recommends it for headaches...

I have taken magnesium for many years. Most recently (last 4 months), I have taken Magnesium Glycinate. This particular type of magnesium was recommended by a fms specialist as it is highly absorbable. I take 200 mg 3 x per day. You should start taking it gradually and build up to bowel tolerance. It is supposed to help with muscle pain and helps if you suffer from constipation (a side effect of Lyrica I find). Still have muscle pain.

Thanks OAJ! I didn't have constipation with Lyrica, but I do on Savella. This is worth exploring! I would be surprised if anyone doesn't have muscle pain, no matter what regimen they're on...we're all ears if you're out there!!!

I use Malic Acid for muscle cramping and twitching. It is a combination of magnesium and malic acid which is recommended for Fibromyalgia (FMS). It comes in pill form. I take 825 mg twice a day. Morning and before bed. I find that to extent it is possible my sleep is less disturbed from muscle pain. Take care.
