Lower back pain?
Noca - March 1

My most painful part of my body is my lower back. It just aches in agony. I see my pain clinic physician tomorrow, should I ask for a nerve block in my lower back? The pain killers barely take the edge off. Usually I succumb to the side effects before I can attain relief.

I have lower back pain 24/7. I have degenerative disc disease. Your idea to have a nerve block is certainly a good one. I won't do it because any kind of shot causes me an extreme amount of pain for a couple of weeks. The aggravation is just not worth it me. But, in your case with the bone tumors etc, I say, nothing ventured, nothing gained. And, if it means that you need less oral medication that would be an added benefit. Take care.

My doctor was too busy to give me one even though he spent an hour total with me on my problems. I did get diagnosed officially with Fibromylagia though.

Usually the nerve block is done with computer guidance and a mild sedative. You'll need to have someone with you who can do the driving. Be prepared to go to bed for most of the day afterwards. Activity is limited after one of these treatments. Take care.
