Lower back pain
3 Replies
Julie - February 7

I have been bothered with fibromyalgia on and off for 20+ years; for about 2 months now I have a fibromyalgia flare up in the lower right back - has anyone experienced flareups in just one location as this?

I consistently get flareups in my lower left back - constantly have a dull ache there - not enough to take pain meds for, but just annoying. I have other flareups in other parts of my body, but they are more random, happen one time.

This is the story of my life. I visited a D.O. and she directed me to stop using artificial sweetner. This was difficult for me to do. I have finally eliminated all diet sodas from my life and my pain has gone down from a 5-6 to a 1-2. There is science behind this. Visit some natural healing websites and read about this connection.

I think the jury is still out on the role of asparame in regards to health issues: http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/aspartame.asp . Don't get me wrong. I would not recommend consuming artificial sweeteners in excess. I only began drinking diet sodas in the last year but average only 3 - 4 12 oz. cans per week. My fibro has been diagnosed for about 5 years now with symptoms prior to that. There was no artificial sweetener in my life at that time until starting to drink diet soda a year ago. So, while I don't think it can hurt to cut back or stop consumption, no guarantees it will help either.
