Low WBC and question about cleaning products?
ashO - September 29

I got diagnosed with FMS about two years ago. My rheumatologist called me in for more bloodwork a few days after my last appointment because my white blood cell count was really low (2.8, normal is between 5 and 10) but he didn't find anything to suggest that I had any autoimmune responses. Has anybody had this? All the research I've done myself lead me to lupus, but I would think he would have found that. Is it normal to have a WBC that low for no reason? And what is the connection to fibromyalgia?
I also wondered if anyone had suggestions for good cleaning products that don't have a strong smell but still kill viruses? I have two small children and it sounds like I don't have a fully functioning immune system, but most things trigger "ice pick" headaches and nausea. What do you suggest?

Hello ashO - Sorry I am not able to answer your concern about the low WBC. However, I do know of a couple cleaning supply manufacturers for the chemically sensitive individual. They are HomeFree and Enviro-Rite. I've never used either; you can find them through Google and read the desctiptions. You might also want to consider a shower filter to eliminate chlorine which is aspirated while showering. I have asthma and use an Aqua Sauna shower filter because I am sensitive to chlorine. As for the cleaning supplies, you should also check with your local, good health food store as they probably stock the ones I mentioned or others. Take care.

My docs discovered I had a low wbc about 7 years ago. It comes and goes but my dad has a low wbc too. I haven't had so much as a cold since h.s. Just sinus infections. I do have lupus but my doc says it's a mild case. I also have sjogren's. I even had a bone marrow test to find out why my wbc was so low and that came back normal. I hope this helps you some.

Hi AshO,
Your low WBC is probably from a compromised immune system which can lead someone down many paths, you just have to stay current with your GP. Really effective and cheap cleansers are plain ole Hydrogen Peroxide or H2O2, amazing-with no irrritations for me! Good Luck V

This is right up my alley since I am sensitive to everything. I use vinegar and baking soda to clean almost everything. I add grapeseed extract to my wash to disinfect and vinegar to the rise to soften. Tea tree oil is great as well as citrus and other essential oils for cleaning. olive oil works for many things also. Let me know if I can be of more help.
