From everything I've read there is a genetic predisposition for fibro but just because you have the genes does not mean that you'll get it

My grandmother, great grandmother and my mother all have had symptoms of Fibro. Because it is a recently discovered syndrome, there is no way to know for sure if my grandma and great grandma had it. Once they hit menopause, it went away. My mother is hoping that hers goes away too. I am showing symptoms of it, but I am only 18 and getting a diagnosis would be pointless at this point because I can deal with it for now.

No it is not heretitary but that does not mean your family members won't get it. You see, we don't know how we get it yet.
