is fibromyalgia really a life sentence

My doctor told me that other than some gentle exercise, pain meds, and anti depresants can help manage the pain but i will always have it and it will never go away. He called the diagnosis a life sentence. Is this true or is there hope

Well, there is always hope! Never give that up, because hope can definitely keep you going. However, as of now, it is pretty much considered a life sentence, but, of course, there are ways to reduce the pain. You just have to find what works best for you. While you do this, remember that they are doing research on fibro. and have hope that one day (hopefully sooner than later!!) they will find something to REALLY REALLY help us or CURE US! Have hope and don't give it up.
