Call your local hospital and ask for the physician referral service. You need to see a rheumotologist with an interest in Fibromyalgia (FMS). I think that is the most important thing you can do for yourself right now. Finding a new primary care doctor can wait. And you do need to find another primary doctor. Anyone who refuses to provide sleep medication of some sort is living in the dark ages.

Go to the health food store or the Vitamin Shoppe and ask them for Calms Forte. This is a natural remedy which should help you sleep until you can see the rheumy. I use it every night with no problems.

I'd also like to gently suggest that you consider counseling or finding a breavement group so you can work through the loss of your mother.

I know you are completely overwhelmed right now. Being proactive and having the strength to take care of any business is the last thing you feel that you can cope with right now. Nothing is going to change for the better until you do. The longer a chronic pain cycle continues the harder it becomes to manage or stop. The sooner you take charge and get on with finding a rheumotologist the better. You are not alone and things will get better. Take care.
