Hot flashes??? is this normal with FMS???

First off, I am a 32 year old man recently dx with FMS, so menopause is out of the question=) But recently my symptoms have been where I may have some muscle twitching in my arm or leg, then I feel what I describe as a hot flash that starts in forehead and then it flushes down my arms and gut area. It feel like "Ben Gay". They will last anywhere from 1 minute to 15 or 20. is this a typical symptom with FMS? Should I check into having my hormones checked by a doctor?

Absolutely have your hormone levels checked out with a blood test. Menopause or not, hot flashes seemed to be a common thread of what I've read in the past from alot of people on this site who are too young to be menopausal, but have experienced hot flashes. I myself am in menopause, and was getting severe hot flashes, which have been helped with the use of a bio-identical hormone patch. I think the fibro made my flashes worse tho, cause talking to other women who have been thru menopause, no one had experienced the problems to the degree I have. FMS can definitely throw off your hormone levels, no matter your age or sex.

Thanks iliveinpain. I just felt this to be very strange since I am a man. I see my doctors in two weeks and will see about having my hormone levels checked out. I have also noticed that any time my emotions are provoked (ie. a moment from a movie or song I hear that makes me sad or even happy) my tingling and hot flashes go into overdrive. In fact it brings on many of my fibro symptoms.
