High Blood Pressure Problems - REALLY High BP
5 Replies
iliveinpain - July 17

I haven't been on this site for quite a long time. I've just been dealing with everything realizing that I have to accept the pain as part of my life. This is new for me though. I never had a problem with this until the last few months or so. I'm on bp meds. and am working closely with my doctor to try to get it under control. I know it's been brought about by personal stress in my life the past few months. It got dangerously high and I had to go to immediate care for it. It's still high even on meds, and I just got to thinking that the constant horrible pain in my body and lack of restorative sleep isn't letting me get well. I'm seriously worried and even though my doctor is monitoring me I know I'm not in immediate danger of being at a serious risk. Still though, I'd love to hear your stories if this is also a problem for any of you. I'd appreciate any feedback any of you have to offer? Thanks so much in advance.

I got generally too low of BP(90/60) while my pulse races averaging 130 with peaks of 160+ resting. Anxiety is most likely the cause of my high heart rate. Another explanation one biology teacher had given me is that my heart has to work extra hard to compensate for the low blood pressure.

I am going to see a cardiologist later this month. I wore a holter monitor and I get those results back this coming week.

What beta-blockers are you on?

I'm on metoprolol E.R. succinate and she just doubled the dose from 25 mg regular to 50 mg extended release. It hasn't yet been a week, so maybe I need to give it more time. I'm just wondering if the fibro messes up this for us as well. I hope things go well for you with your cardio visit.

are you by chance taking savella for the fibro? my doctor had started me on that and my b/p got really high. i was on 3 different b/p meds and in hospital with tests. still wouldnt go down. finally they realized it was the savella and took me off. its fine now.

no I'm not on savella. In fact, I'm not really on anything prescription because I tend to have bad reactions to most meds. I usually just take otc tylenol or aspirin and get by as best I can. :(

i dont know how you do it on over the counter meds. i did that for 2 years. cant do it anymore. unless i want to curl up in a ball and just cry. i hope you get your b/p under control.
