I went to my orthopedic due to pain in the shoulder area. He took an x-ray. I thought it showed a white round area on the shoulder blade. He didn't talk to me about it, just said he wanted me to go right to MRI and have it done, which I did. That was Monday , now it is Friday and he says I have Fibromyalgia. Souldn't there be more test done than this? Any help I would appreciate. My pain is in the shoulder area.

you should try to get a referral to a pain specialist or a rheumatologist (sp?). They would do further investigation like interviewing you on your symptoms and they should do the trigger point test and then see what they say. you need to get the diagnosis from a specialist i would think. good luck :)

Hello Sandi. Diagnosing fibro takes time and I believe before a doctor can diagnose you with it you need a lot more testing besides an MRI. I would suggest you see a rheumatologist who will not only want to know what your symptoms are but will also do extensive blood testing to rule out any other problem. I wish you well.
