Hairloss

Since I am new to this, I am trying to get all the information I can. Is hairloss a part of fibromyalgia? I have always lost clumps of hair, but in the last 6 months it has gotten really bad. Is this normal?

Yes it is , along with dry brittle hair!!! The good news is while we may lose our hair it is only temporary, it will grow back. It could be caused by interruptions in our stress response system, as stress in and of itself causes hair loss.
I know I've noticed a horrible change in my hairs texture, very dry and brittle. I lose so much hair that it clogs the drain when I shower, it really sucks:(

Certain drugs can cause hair loss, which was the only reason I ever experienced hair loss. My hair dresser told me I have "Japanese like hair, cause its so hard".

Thanks! One more thing to try not to stress about! I am not a vain person and I actually shaved my head as a teen, just for fun. I am trying to learn about fibro but it is so overwhelming!

I have always blamed certain medication for my hair loss - but you have made me think again ! perhaps it is associated directly to the fibro. Whilst on the subject of strange happenings !!! my nails have ridges and grow almost round my finger so I have to keep them very short. Is there no end lol.

I think my hair loss is mostly due to lupus and sjogren's syndrome. Make sure you use a good, deep conditioner to add moisture. Stress also causes hair loss so don't underestimate that as a possible cause. If it's b/c of they meds, your doctor may want to put you on something else.
