Hair loss

Charlie - January 2

I know that hair loss is one of the symptoms of fibro, but I have experienced a thinning of hair in general and a total loss of hair almost along line like it is following a nerve. Is this common? I lose a handful of hair whenever I wash my hair, it seems to be growing back in some places, but not along the lines, described. Is there any help?

Charlie: were you tested for hypothryroidism.. this could also produce hair loss.. just a thought.. i have grave disease (hyperthryoidism) but am now on synthroid... and when my blood levels go too low i also loose hair
alot of people with fibro have thryoid problems..
its a simple blood test.....coco

Hi Charlie: Yes, this is related to Fibromyalgia in the fact that your thyroid may be the underlying condition. Thyroid dysfunction can cause hair loss. I would suggest to get your thyroid and glands checked out by a endocrinologist to make sure they are working the way they are suppose to helping your body replenish what it loses every day. Happy New Year. :) smile
