flare in arm?
raven4141 - February 12

I've had fibro for years now and have had several flares that are usually in my lower back. Last thursday my left arm started to hurt for no apparent reason and it got worse every day till finally tonight I went to the emergency room because my family thought it might be my heart. They did all kind of tests and could find nothing wrong with my heart or my arm! Has anyone ever had a flare end up in there arm? Im' at my wits end. I take 2 pain meds, zanaflex and they gave me 2 shots of morphine and its still hurting, especially down around my elbow now. They just told me to call my fibro doc in the morning and tell her about the tests they ran and ask her for any suggestions. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Thanks.

My pain has never been bad enough to take strong pain killers like morphine, but I do get inexplicable pains that crop up. They eventually go away, but it can last for days or ever weeks or months. Really unpredictable. I had neck pain at the beginning of the year that was pretty bad. If it had lasted more than a few days (it didn't) I would have had to go on strong pains meds to cope. Sorry I don't have much to help you, but just you are not alone in this. I am sure you are already doing what you can to alleviate the pain like heating pads. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

I've also had severe pain in the left shoulder/arm/chest area. Often I'll end up having to take quite a bit of codeine, but it barely makes a difference in the pain level at all. I'm at wits end with it and end up missing several days of work at a time with it. I'll be interested to see if anyone else responds to this thread and if anyone has found anything to be helpful! Take care.
