FINGER JOINT PAIN
4 Replies
thintz - December 23

Does it make sense to ANYONE on here that I awake in severe...pain in my fingers every morning. I mean pain on a 10 scale! I can then bend them for about 5-6 seconds and the pain goes from a 10 to a 2 scale in about 5-6 seconds?
Still somewhat sore all day..but just noticable.

I also suffer from pain in my fingers. The worst time, like you, is first thing in the morning. They are so stiff and I would say it is a 10 when I first wake up. It does get a bit less stiff, but is always very painful and my little finger on my right hand is the worse and always on a scale of ten. You are lucky in that the pain goes down to 2 for you. Using a rub containing ibufrofen does relieve it a bit. Also in the winter, I often use fingerless gloves sometimes for warmth.

I have basically fixed the sleeping situation. Do this..Go to Wal Mart or a pharmacy and get two "carpal tunnel wrist/hand braces. Be sure to get the larger ones. Put on two leather gloves ( with fingers ) over them. Buy ones a little larger, so that they fit over the braces. I found ones with a little fur lining. Keep the reciept in case you need to return for ones that fit. It will take a night or two..but you will get used to them. I now awake with little pain at all and no longer go to bed knowing I will awake in pain. Let me know how they work. Crazy..but actually feel so....much better!

Do your fingertip pads ever swell or wrinkle up?

I have noticed that my fingers very occasionally look slightly swollen, but they only wrinkle when I have been in the bath too long. I am not sure what would be causing that.
