How long does it take usually for some one to get diagnosed with fibromyalgia?

im at 2 yrs now, still no diagnosis! from what ive read on here it does seem that people in other part of the world other than the uk seem to get diagnosed faster, for your sake i hope your not from the uk. also i think they are slower to diagnose men with this illness than women, so you have that on your side. From my own experience it would seem that the diagnosis of this is purely a case of excluding other illnesses and if you havent got them then you may have fms. best of luck with the docs and remember, patience is a virtue

If you see a rheumatologist, they should be able to diagnose you with our without the problem with some blood tests. It can be pretty quick once you see a rheumatologist. If you are like me though, you may see an orthopedic doc for years for various aches and pains, maybe a chiropracter. Then a gastroenterologist was treating me for irritable bowel disorder and gastric reflux. After going to the ortho doc repeatedly with no success was finally suggested that I see a rheumatologist.
