Hello, I'm new here and happy to find this site. I was Dx'd 5 yrs ago. I knew little about it at this time other than my whole body ached. it would flare and ease up and over the years the flares would get much worse, so much that it was present everyday.4 yrs ago I had gastric bypass surgery. I thought I was fully aware of all the risks and my surgeon was very informative with the exception of telling me about the meds I could and couldn,t take. So now I can,t take any anti inflamitories which are usually used to treat fibro. I'm also alergic to any egg based meds. I've tried everything I can. The problem I'm facing now is numbness in my joints and limbs.I've been tested for lupus which came back negative. My sed rate is a bit high. The meds I do take are Soma,Norco,Neurontin. It's the numbness thats bothering me now. Some day's I can't even walk. Sorry so long. Any suggestions? Thanks.

NSAIDs (anti-inflammatory meds) are NOT used to treat fibromyalgia related pain. They do nothing for FMS. Opioids, Gabapentinoids(Neurontin/Lyrica), SNRIs(Cymbalta/Savella), TCAs(Nortriptyline), and muscle relaxants/benzos are medications that can be used to treat FMS related pain.

You also need to treat the sleep problem part of FMS too with a sleep aid of some sort to let your body enter deep sleep and repair the muscle/tissue damage done while your awake.

As for numbness, I don't know of any treatment for that.

Do you see a pain clinic physician or Rheumatologist? They are the doctors that treat FMS.
